What is it?
A detailed investigation and report of a building problem which has proved difficult to resolve.
Who does it?
A specially trained building consultant.
When?
Whenever a building problem has been detected and proved difficult to rectify. Building consultants are often called in after numerous unsuccessful attempts at remedying the problem.
Aim?
To correctly identify a chronic problem and to recommend appropriate rectification work..
Why?
Consumers need expert advice when they have lived with or tried to rectify a troublesome building problem such as cracking render, noise from adjoining property or unexplained failure in a building material.
Often they have spent thousands of dollars only to see the problem reoccur.
What is inspected?
The relevant parts of the building are carefully inspected. Further assessment of technical literature, research and scientific assessment of materials and components may also be required.
