Expert Technical Report
What is it?
Advice to a solicitor, court, tribunal or consumer prior to legal action taking place
Who does it?
A specially trained building consultant.
Aim?
To answer specific questions or instructions, identify and analyse the main issues, collect evidence and prepare a report in a form acceptable to the person, tribunal or court that will resolve the problem.
Why?
Consumers and their advisors need accurate advice about the relevant
facts for the problem they are faced with. Their own opinion may be
wrong and they may miss the numerous opportunities to support their
case with the right evidence. With building, pest or architectural
matters, it is essential to include any supporting information from
the various regulations, Acts and Australian Standards.
What is inspected?
The extent of investigation depends upon the type of matter. Often an inspection of a building may be necessary as well as an interview with the client, review of any evidence including photographs, assessment of documentation, research of statutory requirements and scientific testing of materials.
Which types of properties are inspected?
All properties depending upon the client's problem.
